Alternate SJ Message Board

SJ Fan Club - A Yahoo message board and club founded by Will The Fox. Includes a place to post fan pics and occasional live chats with yours truly the cartoonist! Easily worth the price of admission ... mostly because it's free.

Yin's Identity Crisis
Suburban Identity Crisis: Yin's Story
- Fan fiction by the very talented Hikaru Katayamma. Is it canon? Maybe. Maybe not. I've been flashy-thingied so many times, I've lost track.

Ryan Says...Enter, Stage Right, by Nekomimikun - Yes, he's a genius ... but can he keep from alienating everyone he meets? This story introduces Ryan, a tiger with a bright future, and a dark past. And check out "Ryan Says," my illustration inspired by the story!

Ooh! Kitty! A Short THEM/Suburban Jungle Story, by Chad Hershey - Chad, a.k.a. "hbar98" on the forum, has submitted this odd but engaging tale for your entertainment and perusal. THEM, an intriguing-sounding but unpublished comic by a friend of Chad's, chronicles the out-of-whack adventures of some not-quite-so-super heroes, who come dimension-hopping into "The Watering Hole," when Yin isn't around. (Figures.)

The Melee of Life, by Nekomimikun - A sequel to Enter, Stage Right: What happens when scrawny Ryan agrees to work out with hunky Conrad? And is there such a thing as a goth sweatsuit? Read. Enjoy. Then check out Nekomimikun's Keenspace comic, Go For It!

Love In the Suburban Jungle, by Teiran - This alternate-universe version of events weaves elements of the storyline in late 2000 into a sweet romance-that-never-was between Drezzer Wolf and Wally, the bartending kangaroo from The Watering Hole. (In case you haven't been paying attention, it's worth noting that we're talking about a couple of gay males here, so don't read this story if a male/male romance is going to bother you. There are no explicit sexual references.)

LK's Visit, by LionkingCMSL - Uber-jungloid LionkingCMSL has written a nifty fanfic combining elements of the long-running alt.lifestyle.furry SF roleplay, Yin's Identity Crisis, and guest starring a few other furry personalities. Way cool!

The Visit, by D. Keith Howington - Tiffany Tiger and Mopsy the Pooka both make sudden and unannounced visits to a jungloid's office -- neither one realizing that the other is on the way! Don't let the Continuity Cops hear about this one...

WebComics

These are my personal favorites. There are LOTS of good ones, but these are the ones I make a point to read.

Peanuts - My all-time favorite comic strip. Others come and go, but Peanuts endures. As far as I'm concerned, Charles Schultz is the Shakespeare of our age. Farewell, master, and thank you.

Kevin and Kell - He's a rabbit. She's a wolf. They're married. Things get stranger from there. Sorta like Pogo meets The Brady Bunch. Great stuff!

Freefall - The actively irresponsible adventures of a blue-faced would-be starship captain, his happy ping-pong ball-like robot, and a genetically-engineered she-wolf with killer mechanical instincts and a misguided sense of loyalty. Very good hard SF, disguised as a silly little comic strip.

Sabrina Online - A perky femme skunk, her perky femme squirrel roommate, lots of jokes about Amigas, and a propensity for off-panel sex scenes. WARNING: This strip should be considered at least PG-13. Nothing nasty, but it's not kid stuff, either.

The Class Menagerie - Just about the perfect furry comic, now alas retired and rerunning from the beginning. SJ's references to Biff Kingston, DeMontfort University, and Mikey Hopkins are all with the gracious permission of Vince Suzukawa. You rule, Vince!

21st Century Fox - Same basic premise as The Suburban Jungle ... just sixty years in the future! Foxes, giraffes, Matt Jeffries, and Burt Rutan. How can you go wrong? Scott Kellogg is also the unhinged mind behind the Tiffarella guest storyline in Suburban Jungle.

Keenspot

KeenSpot - The good people who host this site for me and provide the scripts that update the pages so I don't have to do it by hand. Thanks!

ComicsRunner - A handy way to see the web's current furry (i.e., funny animal) strips grouped together. Great for surfing 'em all at once. Part of Mongoose.net, the Web's First and Finest Anthroportal.

The Belfry: Furry Comics Online - Another fine source of funny animal comics, and one of the earliest supporters of SJ. Breaks down strips by how often new material goes up (including cobweb sites); and the Belfry Webworks folks are relentless in their pursuit of new comics.
